PROJECTS | TRINITY

TRINITY (TRansmission system enhancement of regioNal borders by means of IntelligenT market technologY) is a European Commission project under the Horizon 2020 program. TRINITY project consists of 19 partners from 11 countries. The project started in October 2020 and lasts for 48 months.

The main goal of the project is to develop a set of solutions to improve cooperation and coordination among the transmission system operators of the South East European region in order to support the integration of the electricity markets in the region, whilst promoting higher penetration of clean energies. The three main drivers of the project objectives, i.e. Market integration, TSOs coordination and RES promotion – are directly covered by three of the TRINITY products (T-MARKET COUPLING FRAMEWORK, T-SENTINEL TOOLSET and T-RES CONTROL CENTRE), that will interact together thanks to the fourth project result, the T-COORDINATION PLATFORM.

SCC will contribute to this project using its expertise and knowledge of South East European transmission systems. Based on extensive experience in the Regional Security Coordinator business, SCC takes part in Work Package 2 (Project foundations), Work Package 6 (Coordination and Communication platform) where SCC in partnership with RTE international makes a great contribution to the development of the Coordination and Communication platform for CCC, CSA, CGS, and Consistency Assessment of System Defence and Restoration Plans, which will facilitate the daily work for all project participants, and in Work Package 7 (Integration and Demonstration activities). Likewise, SCC is involved in the other parts of the projects related to cross-border net transfer capacities, security analysis and regional adequacy. Finally, SCC will provide the Demonstration Activity Manager - a person that will coordinate all demonstration activities of the project deliverables.
